As his number one priority, Senator Flanagan worked to protect the successful Middle Class STAR Rebate Program to provide real tax relief directly to homeowners. Due to those efforts, the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance (NYSDTF) has announced that checks for homeowners in our area will be sent out beginning in October.

According to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, this year’s Middle Class STAR Rebate Program will be easier to access than last year:
If you are an Enhanced STAR recipient, generally seniors, a check will be sent to your home automatically by the end of October. There is no need for any application or paperwork and the rebate amount will be about 40% higher than last year.
If you are a Basic STAR recipient who applied and received a 2007 rebate, a check will be automatically mailed directly to you as long as your property information remains the same. The amount of this check will be similar to last year.
